The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ostasiatische Kunst (a foundation for East Asian Art) proudly presents the works of the internationally acclaimed Swiss-Japanese artist based in Berlin, Leiko Ikemura, whose recent works are being presented in the Museum of Asian Art for the first time, in an exhibition featuring her paintings, graphic works, photographs and sculptures.

Besides figural works that explore the human condition, on display are also landscapes that revolve around the theme of thriving nature. Ikemura's seascapes and mountain landscapes combine to form a dense display in the museum's gallery of graphic art.

Spread over the galleries dedicated to Japanese painting and the room of Buddhist art, her landscapes and figural works form a dialogue with sculptures and pictures from the museum's own collection. This intervention illuminates traditional aspects in Leiko Ikemura's oeuvre that have largely gone unnoticed until now, while at the same time shedding new light on the permanent collection.
